Bureau Valley High School

Pre-Referendum Services and Community Engagement: In 2017, MCP was enlisted by Bureau Valley CUSD #340 to provide pre-referendum services, focusing on costs, schedules, and options for three different schools in the district. MCP led multiple community engagement meetings with a 25-member referendum committee, representing diverse towns and schools. After two previous failed bond referendums, the collaborative efforts led by MCP resulted in the successful passage of the referendum in 2018.

High School Project: Following the successful referendum, MCP immediately commenced collaboration with Larson Darby and the school district on the Bureau Valley High School project. The undertaking involved a 43,025 square feet addition, incorporating a new gym, locker rooms, multi-purpose room, classrooms, labs, and administration offices.

Project Cost and Layout: The total cost for the high school project amounted to $11 million. The gym and locker room additions were situated on the south side, while the classroom addition was on the north side, optimizing the overall functionality of the school.

Construction Amid School Sessions: A distinctive aspect of the project was the seamless execution of construction while the school remained in session. This required meticulous planning and execution to ensure minimal disruption to the learning environment.

Bid Packages and Coordination: MCP managed over 25 bid packages, showcasing its expertise in orchestrating a complex construction project. In addition to managing the construction aspect, MCP also coordinated all Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (F.F. & E.), playground equipment, and other furnishings for the school district.

Repeat Collaboration with Bureau Valley: Bureau Valley has consistently chosen MCP for its construction needs since 2017. The ongoing collaboration is a testament to the trust and satisfaction that the school district has in MCP’s ability to deliver successful projects. Currently working on the fourth project together, this long-standing partnership underscores MCP’s commitment to client satisfaction and project excellence.

The Bureau Valley High School project not only reflects MCP’s capability to deliver successful construction projects within the constraints of an operational school but also highlights the enduring and successful collaboration between MCP and Bureau Valley CUSD #340.
